The Ababil II (translated from the Persian as “Swallow”) is an Iranian-made UAV.
Like its predecessor the Ababil, this UAV also features a tail push propeller and forward canards as well as JATO or pneumatic rail launch options. Construction is however rumoured to be all composite.
Ababil II, which first flew in 1997-98, is a close range UAV with a vastly enhanced flight control system, curing control problems that occurred in the early days of operation. This is the version currently in series production and has been the operational test-bed for its younger siblings and other Qods developments.
